Kyudo Alliance Tampa Seminars

February 21 – 22, 2014


 

Ed Symmes and Ron Jones will conduct three seminars in Tampa, Florida during the weekend of Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22, 2014.

 

Symmes Sensei, Godan, Renshi. (5th degree certified instructor by the All Japan Kyudo Renmei)

He has been teaching Kyudo for 30 years.

 

Ron Jones is certified in several martial arts including a sandan in Kyudo plus he teaches Mindbody Wellness Principles which he has studied for over 25 years.

Friday Kyudo Seminars

 

These seminars require minimum one-day admission to the Tampa Japanese Sword Show at the Tampa Airport Marriott Hotel (4200 George J. Bean Parkway, Tampa FL, 33607, USA): $20.00 in addition to the Kyudo seminar registration.

 

The admission gives you access to attend both Friday Kyudo seminars plus full access to the Sword Show exhibitors who come from across America to the first show of the year.

 

Seminar A.  Friday February 21, 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon.

$25.00 for the seminar registration. We will be covering Kyudo basics --- introduction to equipment, basic movements, basic postures, basic shooting techniques. If enough students register who are more advances, we can provide a 2nd track for more detailed shooting instruction.

 

Seminar B.  Friday February 21, 1:30 to 5:30 PM. 

$35.00 for the seminar registration. Individual shooting assistance at the makiwara target. Plus Q&A from attendees.

 

The Saturday Seminar

Hosted by the Tampa Martial Arts and Wellness Center

 

The seminar will take place at:

Saturday February 22, 2014 10AM to 5:00 PM with local lunch break.

$45.00 (lunch on your own expense.)

 

The instruction will be continuing refinement of the participant’s Kyudo techniques with the aim of preparing them to attend national and international All Japan Kyudo Federation seminars and testing. All levels of Kyudo experience are encouraged to attend.


The opening shooting will be presented by Edwin Symmes sensei and Ron Jones.

 

Following will be an evaluation of each attendee's Kyudo progress. During a short break during which a Kyudo video will be played, an instruction plan will be established that the rest of the day will follow.

 

Open discussion is encouraged since this is a rare opportunity to gain certified Kyudo instruction in our area.
